SPB is a great singer, but sung the worst, double meaning songs in his career and at the end of his prime time in his career, he said he is giving up singing such songs. and mr gangadhar bashed him for that in this interview...good, ppl should know about it....talent and character always wouldn't come together and this is one more example of it.

    gangadhar imitation artist.
weather its ghantasal mastaer or spb talent untene piki veltaru..if you are fan stop bringing other person in this.

    5.02pm,

whatever, there are certain emotions that SPB cant invoke.

his supposedly classical renditions in bhairava dweepam, mohanbabu's allari mogudu, recent jhummandi nadam are ridiculous to the core.

nobody cares if spb sings sollu-bootu songs. in any case, bootu songs are the staple of tollywood. he too knows that, and we cant get rid off them. if he chooses not to sing no problem. everyman changes his opinions as life progresses

very nice and well said about SPB double meaning songs

My dear 9:18 PM same goes with ghantasala garu

spb cannot even compare to the melody that a beard hair of ghantasala can evoke. but separately, spb is outstanding singer. but yes, he sang many boothu songs for money and survival in the industry. if he refuses to sing them, there were probably 1000 singers waiting in the queue to fill their hungry stomachs and snatch the monopoly from spb and so he succumbed.

well said 1.44, but the complaint about his character is: though he earned lot of money with his monopoly, he chose to sing those bootu songs for more money. why can't he let other singers sing those bootu songs and he maintain his dignity. in my opinion SPB is no equal to ghantasala garu, whether in singing or in character.

but spb is clever, and he knows how to manage people with his sweet words. so, he survived in this industry for so long, and of course he has singing talent too.

hi 12:15 PM above, the answer to your question is: Only very few people can control emotions like lust and greediness, etc. and SPB is greedy like many people who cannot control them. He preferred dominance, power, money etc. over morals and so he now has millions now. In other words, he followed kali dharmam. LOL!

Bhagavathgeetha must and should read by all people to understand basics, importance and its concepts to carry our culture to future generations.

me the 9.14 pm to 1.44 am,

circa 1920-40's film music was looked down upon by the carnatic music folks. Ghanwasala was a musician first and a singer next. He brought respect to film music and commanded respect from the classical folks, to the point that Balamurali is jealous of him even now (watch his interview posted on this site a while ago). Majority of the songs he composed and sung be him are an example of a the adaption of classical music to film music.

His Padyams, Harikatha, Yaksha ganam, Bhagavatam, Bhakti patalu, Lullabies...

-Do you guys know, Karunasri's poem became popular after Ghantasala released the records,

-The Harikatha in Vagdnam, I did not hear such a rendition yet. I am sure Adibhatla Narayana dasu garu would be proud of him

-His Vatapi kruti, is by far the best I have heard. Not even MS and Balamurali come close

-the songs in lavakusa under music direction, ahanapellanta in mayabazar, btw, kanupapa karavaina kanulenduko from Chiranjeevulu under music direction drew eyebrows from the classical stalwarts like semmengudi those

-Ghantasala also sang some club songs (le le na roja etc..,) and I dont like them.

SPB is great singer. Ghantasala is a great singer, musician and a human being.

    I rest my case.

after watching this programme i really wish i could see him or i would have born in his generation.

    Really what a voice.
All say that now people r liking the vulgar language songs.
But think once if film industry didn't encouraged it they would have not come in to the society.
Once thay have injected these kind of songs to the people & they have to listen it when they watch movies.
I really feel ghantasala garu's life was so blessed & he utilised it to the fullest.
