What said about Polavaram project in the Sri Krishna Committee Report? see below the information taken from the SKC report (page 244) “Indira Sagar Polavaram project” located 42 Km upstream of S.A.C. barrage at Dowalaliswaram was contemplated in 1943. However, due to many factors, the project has been delayed. Now, the works at site have started and about 33% of the work is completed so far and Rs. 3229.14 crores has already been spent on the project upto the end of July, 2010. This project should be completed in the shortest possible time, so that the benefits of 960 MW of power generation is available to the people of Telangana and Rayalaseema. This would also irrigate 7.2 lakhs acres of land and help in setting of number of new projects upstream, such as “Inchampally Project”, “Kanthanapalli lift irrigation scheme”, “Singareddipalli HE Scheme”, “Rajiv Sagar LIS”, “Indira Sagar LIS”, etc.

(i) One of the grievances of Telangana region is that, although Telangana contributes most to the catchment area of Krishna and Godavari within the state, the allocations to the region are lower and not in the same proportion. Besides, they are not realizing even these lower allocations. In regard to the low allocations, as compared to the catchment area contributions, it is observed that by general convention, the allocations are based on the consideration of various factors like the contribution to the basin waters (where the catchment area will come into play), dependent population, developed usages, alternate sources, possibilities of use, etc. Catchment area cannot be the only criterion. Also, the allocations had already been determined for the state as a whole by the KWDT and the GWDT awards. Further division of these allocations is done project-wise and region-wise in the state through a technical committee. In addition, Telangana, being at a higher level, has natural disadvantage in gravity canal irrigation from large projects.

Polavaram is a project for the national prosperity. There is no project on Godavari in Andhra Pradesh except sriram sagar. The inception of Polavaram is not a new one, Even Sir Arthur cotton said this is very important.
Everybody say Godavari districts have looted Godavari water but before they say this they don't even talk about how they became prosperous.. Its not because of any idiotic Indian govt. but because of a noble person called Sir Arthur Cotton.. tell what any govt. so far did for Godavari district farmers? Every year we have floods, no one talk about it. Do you Telangana people know how much is paid to a farmer in Godavari districts? How many have pakka houses?

Coming to Polavaram.. The dam retention is about 150tmc which is used irrigate upper lands of godavari districts.. all people who claim the region up to Bhadrachalamm, do they know what is this region? Most of these people come to Rajahmundry for their living.
80 to 90 tmc of water is diverted to Krishna river which can help to irrigate lower Rayalaseema and telangana.
Some other 60tmc of water is diverted to visakapatnam.. which will provide drinking water and help the industries..
Whatever Pranahita Chevalla projects being constructed in Telangana are lift irrigation projects which are 4 times more expensive projects than polavaram. Polavaram generates 960MW of electricity which is required for all these lift irrigation projects being constructed in Telangana.
Polavaram is for the development of the entire state and for the country. Don't speak nonsense about Polavaram without knowing anything..

Even the excess water during peak seasons can help to settle upto 10tmc of water deal with Karnataka..

I saw this video long ago. This video is before the inception of pranahita-chevella project.
Andhra people are very loyal. They still thank sir arthur cotton in every village, every year for the barrage he initiated to construct 150 yrs ago.
