I have question regarding Nehru's view on Telangana region of Hyd state adding to Andhra to create AP (I know this may be just a rumour since no evidence has been produced in support of the claim in the discussion).
Nizam Hyderabad state had 16 districts (8 telugu [telangana], 5 marathi and 3 kannada) that had been split between three states (andhra, mysore and bombay) in 1956. Bombay and Mysore states were more developed than Andhra in 1956. My question is why would Nehru object for merger of telangana with andhra but not to the merger of marathi and kannada districts of Hyd state with Bombay and Mysore states respectively?
If Nehru had concerns in merging less developed telangana with Andhra, then he should have had even more concerns in merging the kannada and marthi regions of Hyd state with relatively well developed Mysore and Bombay states (as stated above, these states were more developed than Andhra in 1956).
