However what he said is the fact about origin of Muslims in India. And the idea to bring that point is that we should all have one common national identity irrespective our spiritual practices.

Sanatana Dharma which has different schools (advaita, dvaita, astanga yoga etc) to reach absolute truth. And it believes their could be many other ways. Therefore accepts and respects other religions. No other religion has a guts to accept the fact that there is way other than my own way. That's why they believe in conversion (esp., Islam). He has a parsi wife, jewish brother-in-law, christian sister-in-law, muslim son-in-law. Accepted them all the way mother India accepts all. In no other country has ever such diversity for 1000s of years. Secularism was in India/sanatana dharma even before the word was coined.
