I don't know if the everything in the movie is based on Srividya's life because her mother, renowned carnatic singer M.L.Vasanthakumari, wasn't heartless or greedy like the mother character in the movie. MLV didn't like her being in the movies, but her husband was an actor and could have pushed his daughter into acting because the family faced severe financial difficulties.
Seriously movie ela unna...aa Telugu serial dubbing artists chesina dubbing valla movie lo feel motham poyindi...It is better to watch this movie in Malayalam with English subtitles..mari bhayankaramaina voices...assalki feel expression leni gonthulu....baboyi....

srividya (priya mani) and kamal hassan (chandrakanth)
but she did not get married to kamal..she was lover to him..chandrakanth is another fellow as per wiki.
